Last month, President Trump decided to lift the 40% tariffs on Brazilian food items, such as cocoa and fruit, following their initial imposition in July. This action came as a response to the legal issues faced by former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, a close ally of Trump. In a 40-minute call described as ‘very productive’ by the Brazilian palace, Lula expressed Brazil’s interest in continuing to collaborate with the United States on products still affected by tariffs. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with the US to combat international organized crime.
