Brasilia, Jan 10 – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez engaged in a conversation regarding the Mercosur-EU free trade agreement and the current situation in Venezuela, as confirmed by Brazil’s presidential office. Lula expressed gratitude to the Spanish government for their support of the agreement, referring to it as ‘a very positive signal in defense of multilateralism and stable trade rules.’ They also emphasized a joint statement alongside Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay, denouncing the division of the world into spheres of influence and opposing the use of force in international relations without UN authorization. The leaders welcomed the announcement made by Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez regarding the release of detained individuals, including Spanish nationals.
