Brazil’s Supreme Court issued a ruling on Saturday for the house arrest of 10 officials from former President Jair Bolsonaro’s government, citing their involvement in an attempted coup, as reported by the police. The individuals were implicated in planning, seeking legal justifications, and spreading disinformation regarding the coup plot. These individuals are now subjected to house arrest, where they are prohibited from receiving visitors, using social media, contacting other suspects, and have been required to surrender their passports and firearm permits, according to a statement released by the Federal Police. Despite having prior convictions, the 10 were still free pending appeals, and their identities have not been disclosed. One of the individuals detained was Filipe Garcia Martins, a former advisor to Bolsonaro, who was previously under house arrest and restricted to his city by an electronic ankle monitor. This change in his detention status was confirmed by his lawyer, Jeffrey Chiquini, through a video posted on Instagram.
