Families affected by the catastrophic floods in southeastern Brazil began laying their loved ones to rest on Wednesday, following a tragic event that has resulted in at least 46 fatalities in Minas Gerais. The impacted areas, particularly Juiz de Fora and Uba, have witnessed the loss of lives and significant devastation, prompting an urgent response from authorities. As search teams continue their efforts, 21 individuals remain unaccounted for, while over 3,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes by the local fire department. Scenes of destruction, mud-covered streets, and the looming threat of further landslides have gripped the region with fear and uncertainty. Local officials have taken measures to mitigate risks, including the closure of schools and the relocation of families to makeshift shelters in churches and schools. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has mobilized security forces and healthcare personnel to provide assistance and support in the ongoing rescue operations.
