Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro returned to prison on Wednesday after undergoing a series of hospital exams for a fall and knock to the head, as reported by his wife Michelle Bolsonaro on Instagram. The examinations took place in a Brasilia hospital and indicated a mild traumatic brain injury, according to his doctor, Brasil Caiado. Fortunately, no intracranial injury was identified, providing relief to those concerned about Bolsonaro’s health. Doctor Caiado mentioned that the dizziness and imbalance Bolsonaro is experiencing may be related to the medication he is taking for hiccups. Bolsonaro, currently serving a 27-year sentence for attempting a coup after the 2022 presidential election, has been under medical supervision due to various health issues. The Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes granted permission for Bolsonaro to undergo the tests after an incident on Tuesday evening when Bolsonaro hit his head. Initially, Moraes had denied the request for medical leave, but later approved it to ensure the former president’s well-being. In December, Bolsonaro underwent medical procedures to treat a hernia and persistent hiccups, stemming from injuries sustained during a 2018 campaign event. His history of hospitalizations and surgeries related to the attack adds to the concern over his current health condition.
