Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is currently undergoing double hernia surgery at a hospital in Brasilia, as confirmed by his family. Bolsonaro, who has been in the hospital since Wednesday, was granted permission to undergo the surgery after federal police doctors determined its necessity. The medical team at DF Star hospital stated that the procedure is expected to last around four hours. Bolsonaro has been experiencing pain due to the double hernia, a condition resulting from an incident in 2018 when he was stabbed during a campaign rally. Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who presided over Bolsonaro’s trial and incarceration, authorized the surgery but denied house arrest following the procedure. Bolsonaro, held at the federal police headquarters in Brasilia, has limited contact with other inmates and approved visitors only. His wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, is currently by his side.
