SAO PAULO, Feb 25 – According to an AtlasIntel/Bloomberg poll, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is leading in all first-round scenarios for October’s election. However, his advantage over Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in a potential run-off has diminished significantly. In five simulated first-round scenarios with different opponents, Lula is projected to receive between 43% and 47% of the vote, while right-wing challenger Flavio Bolsonaro is expected to get between 33% and 40% in four scenarios. In a potential run-off, Lula and Flavio are virtually tied, with 46.2% and 46.3% support, respectively. A January poll showed Lula leading the senator 49.2% to 44.9%, down from a 12-point edge in December. Lula would defeat six other potential opponents but might narrowly lose to Sao Paulo Governor Tarcisio de Freitas.
